Trump

While we collectively lose our shit over Trump, we need to actually consider the positives here and reasons why this occurred. There are several points to think about:

1. The centre of politics is now officially dead, Unelectable. Your Clintons, Blairs, Camerons of the world, the "Establishment" Have officially lost control of the situation. Its bad because it opens the door for the far right. Its good because it also opens the door for the far left, if can they stop arguing amongst themselves to get their shit together that is. Neo-liberalism is dying on its fat, disgusting poverty increasing arse and we will be all the better for it.

2. The electoral system is exposed. Electoral fraud, First past the post, Electoral college, all these things about our voting systems are disgustingly exposed and ripe for change. here we have MPs working together to work towards changing to Proportional representation because our current government was voted in by only 24% of us. In America, Hillary actually WON the popular vote but lost on Electoral college (senate voting) which means their voting system is broken too. Maybe the more we realise this, the better.

3. The young didnt vote for him. 18-25 year olds did not vote for Trump. Which means a generational gap, and means that the positive change badly needed WILL come, but not until the generations change hand.....Its going to get worse before it gets better, but it WILL get better.

4. TTIP dead. Trump against it. Says he'd tear it up. Bad trade deal the left campaigned against strongly across the world, now dead in the water. Good news.

5. Media trust gone. in america, 250+ publications backed Hillary. 20 backed Trump. 59 million people voted for Trump. Total collapse in the trust in the media. Trump himself says he will increase libel laws against slander in the media. This is nothing but a good thing. for too long the media has had an absolute strangehold on people. clearly not anymore. Polls also wrong, proven bullshit. Also good. Media massively exposed as out of touch. Can only help bring about a more representative media.

6. The election of Donald Trump, with his nasty rhetoric and his isolationist policies will wake people up in America and across the world. More and more people will become politically active because of it. We MUST listen to why people voted for this man and the reasons why they rejected the system. VERY few people are racists, people heard him talk about broken systems, about increasing infrastructure and about increasing jobs. They didnt listen to the headlines, they listened to the other bits. Average people voted for this man because he represented change, even if he had horrible views. Do we not realise the desperation some of these people must feel? Do we not hear their pleas for change? Ive seen videos of Trump supporters, plenty of assholes of course, but MANY say they dont like his views but heard what he was saying about JOBS and more such issues like it. We cannot be ignorant to the desperation people are feeling.

7. I strongly believe this is the start of the end of the Right wing side of politics. They are losing the argument and having their last strong push in the world. gay rights, abortion, womens rights, all these issues that have progressed so far cannot be turned back. The small mindedness that comes with right wing ideas will have no place in our future. Trump and his extreme rhetoric will be rejected and he will have no luck if he tries to progress with some of his more backward policies.

8. Technology is advancing quicker than we can do anything about it. Automation will take millions of jobs. Basic Income will replace all welfare. Energy will become renewable the world over and free. The Internet of things will increase our abilities and make our lives easier. With all of these things comes the complete collapse of the global economy and capitalism as we know it. And There will be no other way to solve these issues than to look to more....left field ideas. The right simply is ill equipped for this future, and Trumps extremism is going to shine a light on it more glaringly than ever.

So yes. He may be mental. He may be awful. But he will show us all a path to the light, by being the darkness we must all fight.
Peace.
